ABOUT US

Mark Sullivan

Mark Sullivan, the director of Manhattan Literary, manages a select group of writers he has worked with extensively over the past fifteen years, in New York publishing. The intimacy and combined knowledge of this team Mark put together enables ML to produce unique books with the efficiency of a Swiss watch. Mark oversees all operations and ensures that his clients' books are brought to swift completion, while maintaining the highest standard of quality.

Mark was born in Manhattan and educated abroad and then at Columbia University, where he received a degree in Comparative Literature in 1984. He then went on to study classical music composition at The Juilliard School, also in Manhattan.

After working for several authors' representatives in NYC, he established his own company, MSA, Inc., in 1993.

By 2001, Mark's focus had shifted to writing books and he opened Manhattan Literary, a ghost writing and editorial firm.

He also has a longstanding relationship as the principal literary editor for Frank Camper, helping build Camper's extensive book list from 1987 - present. The work is ongoing. Frank, also a writer for ML, is a veteran in the military/espionage genre: {Click Here}

As of April 2008, Mark is a co-author of Comparative Religion For Dummies: Judaism, Christianity, Islam.{Click Here} He is also currently at work on a novel of his own.

In order to fully understand the craft of writing and the inside of the publishing business, it is necessary for a ghost writer to write his own books. ("I cannot show you my work. It is confidential, just as you would want yours to be." This is not a valid response from a ghost writer you would want to hire.) Publication by a major house is a clear indication of a writer's credibility. Otherwise, you, the client, are very possibly working with a manager or broker and not a writer with the necessary experience.

Mark also enjoys music, speed skating, swimming, photography (all photos but one on this website are by Mark) and Japan. Among his favorite living authors are Cormac McCarthy (Blood Meridian, The Crossing), Robert Stone (A Flag for Sunrise); Don Delillo (Underworld); and William Gibson (Neuromancer, Count Zero, All Tomorrow's Parties).
